Pupil Leadership

At our school, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to develop leadership skills, take responsibility, and make a positive contribution to our school community.
Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl
Each year, our Year 6 pupils have the opportunity to apply for the prestigious roles of Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl. Candidates present their ideas and are elected through a democratic vote by pupils and staff. This process promotes the British Value of Democracy, teaching children the importance of having a voice, making informed choices, and respecting the views of others.
Our Head and Deputy Head Pupils act as role models, represent the school at special events, and support school leaders in promoting our school values.
Subject Leaders
Year 6 pupils can also apply to become Subject Leaders. Working alongside the teacher subject lead, they help to:
  • Gather pupil voice and share ideas from their peers.
  • Support the planning and organisation of special curriculum days and events.
  • Promote enthusiasm for their subject across the school.
  • Help celebrate achievements and learning within their subject area.
These roles encourage responsibility, teamwork and pride in learning.
House Captains
Our House Captains play an important role in leading and encouraging their house teams. They help to:
  • Organise and support sporting events and competitions.
  • Motivate and encourage younger pupils.
  • Promote teamwork, sportsmanship and house spirit.
  • Assist staff during whole-school events.
House Captains develop confidence, leadership skills and a sense of responsibility towards others.
School Council
The School Council ensures that pupils have a voice in shaping school life. Representatives are elected by their classmates and meet regularly to discuss ideas, share feedback and suggest improvements.
Through the School Council, children learn about the British Value of Democracy by representing the views of others, listening respectfully to different opinions and helping to make positive changes within the school community.
Our pupil leadership opportunities empower children to become confident, responsible and active citizens who make a meaningful contribution to school life.
