Homework is given out every Friday to be returned on the Wednesday morning of the following week. It consists of a spelling activity based on the week’s spellings and a Maths activity which is related to our KIRF (key instant recall fact) for the half term.
To find out more about our KIRF for this half term, please see our class poster.
Expectations are that children complete their homework on time and we run a homework group on Thursday lunchtimes if this is not completed at home.
Children are also expected to read three times per week and have this acknowledged by a parent by getting their reading diary signed. Reading diaries are handed in on a Thursday morning. Children receive 2 Dojo points for completing their homework on time and three Dojo points for reading.
We also have a reading raffle for any children who read three times a week, every week. The raffle is drawn at the end of each half term and there are some amazing prizes to be won! The Book Wizard is also on the look out for super readers and regularly awards tokens for our very own book vending machine! Homework and reading are proven to be hugely beneficial to children’s learning and also helps families to gain a better understanding of what we are up to and learning about at school! In Year 6, it also helps to prepare children for their transition to secondary school.
