Mental Health and Wellbeing

At St Anne’s Catholic Voluntary Academy, we aim to promote positive mental health and wellbeing for our whole school community (children, staff, parents and carers), and recognise how important mental health and emotional wellbeing is to our lives in just the same way as physical health.

We recognise that children’s mental health is a crucial factor in their overall wellbeing and can affect their learning and achievement.

Therefore, each half term we have Mental Health and Wellbeing sessions which aim to teach the children about their emotions, how we maintain a good mental health and coping strategies for difficult situations. Each half-term, we have a whole school topic focus and this is broken down into a key question for each year group to focus on (please see our Mental Health Curriculum below).

In order to support the pupils with their Mental Health, we have trained Wellbeing Champions in Y6. They have helped to lead assemblies, design our Mental Health Curriculum and even deliver some sessions.

Please see our Mental Health and Wellbeing Policy and Mental Health Curriculum documents below for further details and resources.
